Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, called PML disease is very rare, and often fatal, viral infection in the brain. It is caused by the JC virus, which is normally in our bodies but is kept under control by our natural defenses in the immune system. However, when powerful, untested and dangerous Immunosuppressive drugs are prescribed, patient's immune systems sometimes cannot contain the virus resulting in an infection.

Raptiva Pulled from The Market
According to the FDA Raptiva is linked to several cases of PML. (Raptiva is an immunosuppressant drug used to treat psoriasis).  Genentech the company that makes Raptiva, withdrew the drug from the market after patients died from PML brain infections related to their Raptiva treatment. Tysabri Dangers
Tysabri (natalizumab) is a drug used to treat multiple sclerosis and Crohn’s disease.  Tysabri was actually recalled in 2004 after it was linked to PML, but Tysabri was allowed back on the market with guidelines designed to lower the risks of PML infections.  Unfortunatley additional cases of PML have been reported in Tysabri users.

Rituxan
Rituxan has been linked to 57 cases of PML and has an FDA black box warning.

Enbrel (etanercept) and Remicade (infliximab) have also been linked to progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy cases.
