Consumers have reported that they have received unsolicited text messages from Jamster which automatically enroll them in a plan that bills $9.99 to their monthly cell phone bill if they do not opt out. If so, these messages violate the US Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and possibly other federal and/or state laws, and may entitle the victims of these unsolicited messages to collect damages. 

The US Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) makes it illegal for a company to contact a consumer using automatic dialing systems, artificial or prerecorded voice messages, SMS text messages, and fax machines if it is unsolicited  The act provides awards of $500 to $1500 per violation to a consumer that was a victim of these unsolicited messages.
