Dialysis Heart Attack Death Lawsuits: Fresenius GranuFlo and NaturaLyte unsafe
Did a loved one experience a heart attack while on dialysis?June 2012: The FDA has recalled products used in Dialysis in some of the largest clinics in the country.
Certain dialysis products named GranuFlo and Naturalyte are linked to a massive increase in the risk of cardiac arrest in dialysis patients. Fresenius Medical Care (FMC), which makes GranuFlo, may have knew about the dangers associated with this defective product but failed to warn thousands of patients and doctors. Fresenius Medical Care is the largest provider of dialysis treatments and products in the world. In addition to making dialysis supplies and machines, Fresenius operates dialysis clinics throughout the United States under many different names. Approximately a third of the 400,000 dialysis patients in this country are treated in Fresenius clinics or with Fresenius dialysate products. Patients at these clincis may have been injured or killed by these products.
Medical research links GranuFlo to high bicarbonate levels that can cause a condition called hemodialysis metabolic alkalosis, which is linked to:
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest
- Sudden Heart Attack
- Hemodialysis cardiac arrest
- Hemodialysis cardiopulmonary arrest
- Stroke
- Death
Patients who suffered cardiac arrest or heart attack connected to the administration of these products may be entitled to compensation.
